When Something Happens (Or Could)

Most of our clients come to us in one of two moments: when they take actionable steps to prepare their organization for a crisis, or after an incident shakes their organization. About 80% come to us before crisis strikes, planning and preparing their response. Military installations prepare for potential attacks. Hospital administrators recognize that workplace violence isn't a hypothetical. School leaders know active assailant threats are real. University officials understand that civil unrest can spread to campus without warning. Critical infrastructure operators realize their five-year-old security plan won't hold. These organizations don't wait for tragedy. They call us to get their people ready before they need to be. ​The other 20% come after an incident has already occurred. They need immediate response coordination, staff support, and help rebuilding organizational confidence. Either way, these are the moments organizations call us.

What both need is not theory, not checkbox compliance, not a firm who disappears after a final report. Our clients need experts who have commanded international crisis events. Experts who have authored national policies on mass violence response. Experts who understand how fast civil unrest spreads in metropolitan cities. Experts who authored comprehensive after-action action reports after mass violence events. Experts who led a college recovery after a tornado caused $45 million in damage to the campus. Clients need to know they can trust and depend our members who truly understand the complexity of crisis.

The Rare Combination

Most organizations in our field are built one way: researchers who study major crisis incidents, or public safety personnel who responded and commanded these events. Rarely do these two worlds collide. Even more rarely do you find those who have done both, simultaneously.

Threat Suppression is a different kind of firm. We are law enforcement chiefs, fire chiefs, paramedics, physicians, federal agents, lawyers, and researchers. Our personnel authored the world's first doctoral dissertation on integrated active assailant response. We created the Tactical Fire Company program, a first of it's kind program that imbed fire personnel with SWAT teams. We were the first to put law enforcement officers in actual burning buildings to train them on fire-as-a-weapon tactics. We helped create NFPA 3000 and the Interagency Board's whitepaper on active assailant response. We authored active assailant whitepapers on behalf of a governor. We don't just teach the policies, we write the policies.

We do not just study incidents. We command them. We have proven that rapid formation of unified command works. We implemented it in Charlotte, North Carolina, and proved it during real operations: the 2016 riots, 2019 UNCC active shooter event, 2020 riots, the 2024 U.S. Marshals ambush, and many more sentinel events. Behavior changed. Lives were protected. In our small company, we have more operational and research depth than most large companies and universities devoted to this work.

Approximately 75% of our work comes from returning clients. Many have become lifelong relationships. Clients work with us because they know us. They trust us with what matters most. Our integrity and relentless pursuit of excellence is the backbone of our company.

Our Approach

We do not create dependency. We encourage agencies to own their safety and security, to update plans annually, to build the culture from within. We do not want clients who rent preparedness from us. We want clients who take ownership. To this point, we turn away more than 70% of the requests we receive because of poorness of fit. If we take on your project, it is because we believe that we have mutually shared priorities.

Nearly all of our work comes unsolicited. We have received multiple sole-source contract awards from state and federal agencies because they could not find anyone else who could provide the breadth and depth we offer. We have proprietary tools, instructor manuals, command checklists, and after-action report methodologies that are not available elsewhere.

Since 2012, we have trained more than 200,000 people across five continents. Approximately 70% of our work supports U.S. government clients, from the Department of War to federal law enforcement to national security agencies. The remaining 30% works with organizations truly committed to preparedness.  However, we have found that many non-government organizations who contact us are not ready to commit the time and resources required for a genuinely successful safety program. Some are checking boxes. Some are trying to calm employees or parents after an event.
